Road Bike
A road bike used to refer to a racing bicycle. However,
now that mountain bikes have become more popular, the term ‘road
bike’ is often describes a bike used to ride on pavement. Road
bikes feature dropped handlebars and usually have multiple gears to
accommodate different road slopes.
A racing road bike is extremely light weight. It is made of expensive
materials to make it aerodynamic and fast. A custom racing bike can
cost thousands of dollars.
A less expensive kind of road bike is a touring bike. These are popular
with people who like to travel for long distances or who need to commute.
A touring bike is comfortable and can hold a bike rack and panniers
to carry heavy loads.
