Girls Bike
There is not much difference in terms of function between
a girl’s bike and a boy’s bike. In fact, for many years
women and men generally bought bicycles with the same frame. Even now,
it is only necessary for a full grown woman to buy a different bicycle
if she intends to ride for many miles.
Since most children take short trips on their bike, a girl’s
bike has the same functionality as a boy’s bike. However, bike
companies use different marketing methods to sell to girls. For example,
since the public associates pink with femininity, most girl bikes are
this color.
Some feminists object to marketing a girl’s bike in this way.
They claim that attaching gender identity at an early age can be limiting.
Still, many parents and girls find this irrelevant and simply enjoy
having a pink bike with flowers painted on for decoration.
