Downhill Bike
A downhill bike brings the adrenaline rush of mountain
biking to a new level. Downhill bikes are designed to accommodate high-speed
descent. In fact, some riders don't even take them uphill. Instead,
they take a chair lift or shuttle to the top of the trail.
A downhill bike is usually made of aluminum or steel for increased
stability. Because this bike is a niche product it is very expensive.
The starting price is usually around $2,000 for just the frame.
As increased attention has been given to extreme sports, sales of the
downhill bike have increased. There are now even racing circuits for
downhill riders. Cyclists new to downhill riding should take extreme
caution when starting out and purchase all necessary safety equipment
and learn the descending techniques.
